How I successfully entertained the panelists at an interview without even knowing it

Come any time, any day, I will always jump at every opportunity I get to talk about what I love to do, whether at interviews, presentations, seminars, or even workshops!

I mean, it gives me absolute joy to think that I'd have the ample chance to express my entire prowess in a field I'm most interested in.

It is only normal for anyone to prepare before any interview but for me, this particular interview brought about exceptional courage that welled up inside of me each time I remembered that it had to do with something I love to do best; showcasing my creative skills.

Now before I bore you out with my banters let's jump right into the gist of how my interview went.

On this very day, I must confess I was so restless that I could barely concentrate at work.

I kept surfing the internet over and over again just to get more updated on the recent questions that pop up at content writing interviews.

I didn't know what to expect but in a way, I still had a slight idea of the usual questions that could be asked so I kept rehearsing and assuring myself that I'd do just fine because it's an opportunity for me to show the panelists how good I am at what I do.

Fast forward to the D-time, I connected via zoom and joined the panelists at the interview room only to find out that my face alone was showing on video, others had their videos turned off and there were about 6 of them.

As the hard girl that I am (lol), I tried as much as possible to mask up the nervousness in my face with a few deep breaths and a beautiful smile while exchanging pleasantries with them.

The interview commenced and questions began to hit me left, right, and center but in all, I made it through by carefully addressing each question politely and concisely.

The highlight for me was when I got to talk about the step-by-step processes involved in starting and ending a content writing project.

I was so engrossed in answering the question and citing examples of my previous work experiences that I had no idea I was entertaining the panelists.

They all quietly listened as I spoke and later gave comments about how enjoyable every bit of my presentation was.

For me, it was the confidence and clarity I exuded. I was quite surprised at the way I delivered answers to the questions asked without babbling or stutters.

The fulfillment of sharing my ideas and experience with people on what I love to do best was 100% for me and I must say I really enjoyed doing that because I was able to overcome the tension.

Nevertheless, I always keep in mind that at every interview/presentation I find myself, I can and cannot:

  • Defend my skills and expertise
  • Express myself freely while answering questions
  • Show my interviewers why I'm best suited for the job/contract
  • Be over-confident
  • Treat the interview casually
  • Talk too much/out of context

"Interviews/presentations are great ways to showcase your capabilities and potentials while ensuring to always keep it formal".

Do you also agree with me?
